Consultation on Admission Arrangements for 2028/29
Introduction
Embark Federation is the admission authority for its academies and is responsible for determining the admission arrangements that apply to its schools.
In accordance with the School Admissions Code, admission authorities are required to consult on their admission arrangements at least once every seven years, even where no changes are proposed.
Embark Federation is undertaking a Trust wide consultation covering all applicable Embark schools. This will ensure that our schools are aligned to a common consultation cycle and that there is a clear and consistent record of consultation across the Trust.
What are we consulting on?
Embark Federation is consulting on the proposed admission arrangements for the 2028/29 academic year.
No changes are proposed to the existing admission arrangements as part of this consultation.
The Trust is therefore seeking views on the continuation of the existing admission arrangements for 2028/29.
The proposed admission arrangements for each Embark school are available alongside this consultation.
These set out the arrangements that would apply where applications are received for admission to the relevant school, including the oversubscription criteria that would be used where there are more applications than places available.
The Published Admission Number for each school is also included within the proposed arrangements.
Why are we consulting if nothing is changing?
The School Admissions Code requires admission authorities to consult on their admission arrangements at least once every seven years, even where the arrangements have not changed.
Embark Federation has therefore decided to undertake one Trust wide consultation covering all applicable schools so that our schools can operate to a common consultation cycle going forward.
This consultation does not propose any changes to the current admission arrangements.
Consultation period
The consultation will run from:
14th October 2026 to 10th January 2027
The consultation will remain open for a minimum of six weeks.

What happens next?
Following the close of the consultation, Embark Federation will consider all responses received.
The Trust will then determine its admission arrangements for the 2028/29 academic year by the statutory deadline.
Once determined, the final admission arrangements will be published on the relevant websites and provided to the Local Authority in accordance with the School Admissions Code.
