The Embark Award embodies this commitment, offering a structured framework of 100 activities designed around our four core values: Family, Integrity, Teamwork, and Success.
The Embark Award is a key part of our wider commitment to enriching the lives of our young people. It is based on 100 activities we aim for every young person to experience before leaving school.
Young people can progress through three levels of the Embark Award:
Each level provides a variety of experiences to promote family learning and personal growth. By the time they leave school, we want our young people to have had the opportunity to complete a broad range of activities that reflect our core values.
We recognise that not all young people may have the same level of support at home, which is why the majority of the activities can be completed within school.
This approach ensures that every young person, regardless of their home environment, can fully engage with the Embark Award and benefit from a well-rounded education.
The Embark Award is more than just a programme, it is a reflection of our dedication to making every young person’s school experience memorable and meaningful.
We are proud to offer this opportunity and look forward to celebrating the achievements of our young people as they work towards their awards.
Spending quality time with loved ones is a wonderful way to strengthen bonds. Cooking a family meal allows everyone to contribute, enjoy delicious food, and create lasting memories. Sending a postcard from your holiday keeps your school community connected to your experiences. Joining the local library and attending as a family opens doors to new adventures in books and learning together. Writing or e-mailing another Embark Family at a different school fosters friendships beyond your immediate circle, while interviewing a family member about their job offers a chance to learn more about their life and career.
Living with integrity means showing kindness, honesty, and care for others. Raising at least £10 for charity helps support a cause you’re passionate about, and cleaning up your local community makes it a better place for everyone. Being a buddy to a new young person at school shows compassion and leadership, while helping to improve an area of the school contributes to a shared sense of pride. Teaching someone a new skill not only helps them grow but also strengthens your own understanding and confidence.
Teamwork teaches you how to achieve more together than you could alone. Taking part in a school campout encourages collaboration and builds strong friendships. Solving a problem with a group of friends nurtures creativity and communication, while representing the school or Embark as part of a team showcases unity and pride. Participating in a school enterprise project sharpens entrepreneurial skills, and being a school council representative lets you contribute to positive changes for your class and school.
Success is about setting goals and working hard to achieve them. Completing a reading challenge expands your imagination and improves your literacy skills. Earning times tables or spelling awards builds confidence and celebrates academic progress. Achieving a 25-metre swimming badge marks a big step in physical accomplishment, while winning a competition shows the rewards of effort, dedication, and resilience.
