Our four core values of Family, Integrity, Teamwork and Success are at the heart of everything we do.
Whilst we recognise the need for some common systems and procedures, each of our schools are unique and have the autonomy and freedom to shape a curriculum for their own context.
Our schools collaborate closely and enjoy working together as a family. There is a genuine warmth and sense of belonging in the room when the leaders and staff come together which newcomers tell us is very special and that they can’t believe how much love, care and kindness is shown to one another.
Integrity at every level is important to Embark. The way we speak to our young people and adults is very important to us. ‘Doing the right thing when nobody is watching’ has become a key mantra for Embark.
High-quality professional development of our adults is crucial to this, and we invest in this as a priority. Also, there are so many examples of exceptional teaching and learning across the schools in our trust, which are shared across our family.
We encourage teaching and learning that is challenge-based and involves young people developing key skills alongside their knowledge.
The Embark Award is at the heart of this and symbolises our commitment to our young people.
It is based on 100 activities around our core values, which are activities that we would want our learners to have experienced by the time they leave school.
In addition to this, we expect our schools to deliver a broad, balanced and exciting curriculum that meets the young persons needs and is not a narrow diet of just English and Maths that is geared toward the end of Key Stage tests.
We want our schools to achieve success in all areas and don’t dismiss the importance of high academic standards.
We are committed to positive behaviour management and want our young people to feel like part of our family. Similarly, we prioritise adult well-being, evidenced by our selection for a national case study on workload and well-being.
We aim to provide an enriching environment for both adults and young people through clear career pathways and ongoing professional development.
Visitors often praise our schools’ positive atmosphere, reflective of our commitment to integrity at every level, from interactions with our young people, adults, parents and caregivers to trust leadership and governance and our belief that every child deserves a champion is central to this. Our Collective Commitment to Inclusion, launched summer 2024 sets things out clearly for our young people and adults.
