World Book Week was a fantastic week for all the pupils from Embark Federation got to experience and take part in some fantastic workshops with some extraordinarily talented performers from some of London’s most popular West End Shows.
The children had visits at their individual schools where they took part in workshops throughout the week focusing on The Lion King With Vivian Gayle who had been a member of the Lion King cast. Then we all came together on Thursday for a fabulous day of singing, dancing and acting.
The day started with a rigorous warm up led by Billy(Choreographer and performer from the West End) where the children got to experience what it is like to warm up before a west end show. Teachers also joined in which was fun.
The performers then led the children through songs and choreography taken directly from ‘School of Rock’ the musical. The children gave it their all and really made all the staff proud.
They then had a singing workshop where they learnt a song from Joseph and his technicolour dreamcoat with Llandyll( West End Performer)
A key part of the day was the opportunity for the children to come together to make friends and to exchange ideas with other children from the trust from the different schools.
The children were then able to take part in a question and answer session where they could ask the performers anything about what it is like to perform in the West End. This gave the children the opportunity to learn all about the Musical Theatre, Tv and Film Industry. They asked some fantastic well thought out questions and again made us proud.
The Children had such a great time participating in this activity as did we!
