More than 30 estates projects have taken place across Embark over the summer, as we continue to invest in creating safe, welcoming and inspiring environments for our young people.
While our schools were quieter during the summer break, there was certainly no slowing down behind the scenes. Our Estates Team, school colleagues and trusted contractors have been working across the Embark family to complete an extensive programme of improvements ahead of the new academic year.
From major refurbishments and infrastructure upgrades to essential maintenance, the work reflects our continued commitment to ensuring our school environments support our young people to learn, grow and thrive.
The summer programme has included a huge variety of projects across the Federation.
At Burbage Primary School, the Early Years environment underwent a significant transformation, including new ceilings, LED lighting, sinks and decoration, creating an improved space for our youngest learners.
At Heath Primary School, improvements included new flooring and decoration within the Learning Forest, alongside a replacement reception roof and a drainage survey to support future works.
Anthony Gell School saw significant investment, including washroom refurbishments and an extensive roofing programme across several sections of the school.
Elsewhere, new flooring was installed at Ripley Juniors and William Rhodes Primary School, while Kilburn Juniors benefited from refurbished washroom facilities.
At Richardson Endowed, several projects took place, including the renovation of an office, significant flooring works within the historic building, roof improvements, new boiler house doors and upgrades to the school’s IT infrastructure.
Heating and infrastructure have also been a key focus. Field House Infant and Nursery School received new boilers alongside improvements to its external paths, while boiler works took place at Howitt Primary School. St George’s Primary School also benefited from an upgrade to its IT services and digital infrastructure.
The summer also marked an exciting sustainability milestone for Embark, with the first solar panels installed at Pennine Way in partnership with Solar for Schools.
The installation forms part of our wider commitment to considering the long-term sustainability of our estate and making positive improvements for the future.
Delivering such an extensive programme across multiple schools requires considerable planning and coordination.
We would like to thank Richard, our Estates Lead, our school teams and the many contractors and partners who have worked with us throughout the summer to make these projects possible.
Some of the work has transformed entire spaces, while other projects have focused on the essential infrastructure that may be less visible to our young people and families. Every improvement, however, plays its part in creating schools that are safe, welcoming and ready to support excellent education.
