Embark Delivers Inspiring Easter Workshops Across the Trust

Over the Easter holidays, Embark Federation was proud to deliver an exciting and enriching programme of workshops across four venues within the trust, offering children a unique opportunity to develop their creativity, confidence, and performance skills.

The workshops took place at Harpur Hill Primary School (Buxton), William Rhodes Primary School (Chesterfield), Howitt Primary Community School (Heanor), and Chaucer Junior School (Ilkeston), bringing together children from across the trust in a vibrant and inclusive environment.

Funded through the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, the workshops ensured that children not only accessed high-quality experiences but also benefited from nutritious meals and a safe, supportive setting throughout the holiday period. The programme was supported locally by StreetGames Derbyshire, who play a key role in coordinating HAF provision and distributing funding to enable organisations like Embark to deliver impactful holiday programmes for children and families.

A key highlight of this year’s delivery was our partnership with Kristian Thomas Company (KTCo), who facilitated the workshops. Through this collaboration, children worked with experienced professionals, including West End performers, who led inspiring sessions in dance, drama, and singing.

Throughout the week, children worked collaboratively in groups, building confidence, developing new skills, and forming friendships with peers from across the trust. Guided by industry professionals, they explored performance techniques, storytelling, and creative expression.

The workshops culminated in a special performance of The Greatest Showman, where parents and carers were invited to attend and celebrate the children’s achievements. This final showcase was a highlight of the week, giving participants the opportunity to perform with confidence and pride in front of a supportive audience.

Alongside the creative programme, we were delighted to work with Eat@Denby’s, who provided freshly prepared, healthy meals each day in line with HAF guidelines. Their commitment ensured that every child had access to nutritious food, supporting both their wellbeing and their ability to fully engage in the activities.

Across all four venues, the workshops created a welcoming and inclusive environment where children felt supported to try new experiences and express themselves creatively. One of the most meaningful outcomes of the programme was the opportunity for young people to connect with others they may not have met otherwise, building new friendships and a stronger sense of belonging.

The success of the Easter workshops reflects Embark’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality opportunities for children and families. By working in partnership with organisations such as StreetGames Derbyshire and Kristian Thomas Company, we continue to provide experiences that inspire, engage, and make a lasting impact.
